This course introduces you to the design of masonry components and the structural design framework of masonry. This course explains the interconnection between different codes of practice and the criteria for the seismic design of buildings. This course also describes design with respect to the code dealing with permissible stress approach for unreinforced masonry. You will also be introduced to the categories of buildings and the design seismic coefficient.
This course outlines the requirements for reinforcement and detailing as well as seismic design requirements. This course also discusses the design for reinforcement of shear and the process of estimating actual shear stress. You will learn about the aspect ratio of masonry walls, the design for anchorage and development length.
This course also explains the structural design framework of masonry and the design considerations in masonry as far as IS 1905. You will learn about the Mann-Muller theory and its limitations. You will be introduced to some guidelines for reinforced masonry as well as some new terminologies. You will also learn about the categories of buildings and the design seismic coefficient. This course further explains the P-M interaction curve and its regions and the different procedures of the iterative approach.
